Title: Female Rappers
Post by: DJChameleon on Aug 13, 2023, 02:19 PM
After listening to Chika's album on repeat a couple of times. I thought it would be cool to highlight rappers who happen to be women. I don't even like the title of female rappers because when it comes up in discussions. People use the fact that a rapper is a women to make it seems like they are lesser skilled than men.

"Oh she's awesome FOR a female rapper"

I hear that phrase fairly often.

I want this thread to be focused on all of the favorite rappers that you love and showcase/highlight some underrated ones that don't get as much exposure. Also seeing as the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop is going on.

It would be cool to do female rappers from all sorts of decades in the past in this thread.

Great thread idea!

I've been a big fan of Megan Thee Stallion since she first came around, her music bangs and a lot of her songs give me vibes of mid-2000s crunk and club rap which is a nostalgic era for me.

And throwing it up for my trans homies, my underrated pick is Backxwash, who makes dark, industrial, vaguely horrorcore styled music with an underground rock influence.

I'll post more and some videos later after my work shift.

I discovered Flyana Boss through tik tok and how they make their music videos running through random places with a fish eye lens on the camera. They are gonna be a problem in a year or two. So so good.

I used to like Iggy until I realized how much of a blaccent she puts on to rap lol. Hearing her in interviews is wild because she sounds nothing like that.

Plus recently she wrote a letter of support for Tory Lanez and he still got 10 years for shooting Meg the Stallion.

Snow will be forever dope to me though. My wifey doesnt like her for some reason but I love her music and play it all the time.

Rapsody- Dark Knights

Oh if going forward if you just post a YouTube video at least type the artist and song. I know this forum is better about it but I remember on MB after like years sometimes the YouTube link won't play. If you look at some older posts on MB that have just a youtube video you won't have no idea what the video was or who the artist/song was.

yeah she definitely does that, I don't fuck with much of her new music. She is the absolute definition of a culture vulture lol could be why her 15 minutes is way gone.

Yeah Tierra Whack is pretty cool. I haven't listened to any album or EP from her though. Only random singles here and there.
