Yes, Dream Warriors.. probably the second best one after the first 🤔

The girl in the body bag with the centipede coming out of her mouth from the first movie left a lingering impression in my young brain. Actually, quite a few scenes from that movie did.

So I watched this one - a recommendation from SGR in the horror movies thread. Yes, I will be watching your recommendations - just gimme a minute!

So this is a mockumentary about a dude who's found... well, I don't wanna spoil it, actually. It's a mockumentary that uses found footage to tell a story about a missing hiker/video blogger. I didn't like it much because I of course knew it was just a movie going into it and I'd argue there's little excitement or entertainment value to the interviews or news broadcasts. They're good for mimicking a real case, but they're not funny or very good for building tension which is something other certain found footage movies do better.

It's also not my genre. I'd rate it:

:2stars:

BUT I'm sure I would've enjoyed it more if I'd seen it with my wife and managed to trick her into thinking it was real, like what @SGR seems to have achieved ;) And I enjoyed watching it even if I didn't love it, so thanks for the recommendation!

What I especially liked was I did a @Psy-Fi and watched it while running on our treadmill and lifting some weights. Finally getting some exercise again! I'm like a human bean bag. Brilliant.

The Banshees of Inisherin.

I liked it.

I've always liked that whole 3, 4, 5 internal trilogy overall.

This is what you want. This is what you get.

It's so long since I saw them, but I remember liking all of them, even the 6th I'm pretty sure. Not because they were great, but I just liked the surreal dream parts and funny deaths. 🙂

I saw this one today:

I've been curious about it for a while, but have honestly also been avoiding it. You can tell the whole premise coming from 10 miles away so it seems like it's already spoiled before you watch it and it's probably gonna be this formulaic thing.

The movie does suffer from that, but was much better than I feared. The script and screenplay takes the story seriously and the movie superbly casts the very lovely Vera Farmiga and a 10 year old Isabella Fuhrman as mother and her adopted daughter and they both do a great job. Their performances take something forgettable and turns it into something special. The rest of the cast are good as well, particularly Aryana Engineer who played the movie's other little girl and biological daughter Maxine.

Even if you know right away where the movie's headed, it's still an enjoyable ride. And it was inspired by a real life case in which a woman of 33, Babora Skrlova, tried to escape the law in the Czech republic by sneaking away to Norway and pretending to be a 13 year old boy, even attending school. So there's some interesting true crime slightly related to this..

I probably won't ever see it again, but enjoyed it.

The sixth one is the first one I ever saw in the theater, which was fun because the last part of the movie was in old school red/blue 3D. I'm with you about why I like those movies. Even when they were new and I was a pre-teen, I liked them because they were funny and surreal.

just watched Wolf Creek 2

like the original it's fantastic

Fell asleep watching Conspiracy Theory on Youtube the other night. Fitting as a predictor of future Mel Gibson in a Julia Roberts vehicle.

The Word has spoken :D

Finally saw the first Gaspar NoƩ full-length feature. Very strong

I actually love Dream Warriors over the first one. I think it's the best in the series.

My last movie I watched was a film I found in a discount bin for 2 bucks. The D train. I had no idea Jack Black was in it but it was good. Idk when it came out but I must have missed the trailers for it.

I was this cool the whole time.

The Pebble and the Penguin (1995)

Continuing our trudge through 90s Don Bluth kids movies, Mr. Waffles and I tackled this one that neither of us had seen in at least 25 years.

This was better than A Troll in Central Park at least. It felt more like an actual film with a semblance of a plot and wasn't as nauseatingly saccharine. The music in this one was written by Barry Manilow, who, courtesy of my father playing his music all the time as a child, has been marked as one of my musical mortal enemies. And it's very much showtune cheese, which I'm not necessarily opposed to as a rule if I get to make fun of the hamminess with my man by my side. If I had watched it alone I'd have groaned through some of these songs.

One plus of this movie is of course Tim Curry as the villain, who is a delight as always. Ultimately this wasn't nearly as insultingly bad as A Troll in Central Park and I'm glad we got to revisit it while cracking our usual Mystery Science Theater inspired jokes.

Her smell?

That's the name of a movie?

Sounds like it's about stalking and panty-sniffing.
