The
Rock Album Survivor game from MB has officially moved here so spread the word!
Breakdown of rules for those unfamiliar:
- The game is sectioned into battles of 10 rock albums each, belonging to a particular subgenre
- Those battles are divided into rounds where the participants vote off their least favorite albums once per round. As albums are eliminated this process is repeated until a winner is chosen for that battle
- In addition to the ordinary genre battles, albums that have been eliminated in previous battles may be nominated for "Revival" battles, which will total 4 in number. Thus far 2 Revival battles have been completed (see under "Finished battles (https://scd.community/index.php?topic=333.msg8204#msg8204)"). Nominations for revival are currently CLOSED.
- Users/participants may also nominate albums for Wild Card rounds. All albums under the Rock umbrella (at least vaguely) are eligible for nomination provided they have not been featured on any other list present, past or future. Wild card nominations are currently OPEN

Vote 4 off. I'm gonna make this very simple and say the deadline for voting in the first round is June 1. Have some stuff I need to focus on before then anyway. Happy listening!
Is it bad form to vote if we haven't heard every album on the list?
I would recommend listening to all of them (especially given there's a 2 week initial voting period) but if you're sure enough of how your preferences would stack up then don't let me stop you.
One possible way to deal with it if you're short on time could maybe be to just sample a track or two from the one's you haven't heard and then approximate how you would rank those albums. Up to you though :)
I pretty much have to listen to all ten (Have heard six so far and they're out of this world) so it's good to have the extra time.
PS- You said Soul wasn't really rock but it's closer to the form than jazz fusion, great as it is, don't you think?

Arguably, and as I've said I wasn't involved in choosing what genres were included initially, but from what I understand the logic was along the lines of "we can allow a few examples of other genres fused with rock influences (examples being Country Rock, Jazz Fusion, Jazz-Rock, Funk Rock, Crossover Thrash, Power Pop etc.), but genres that belong primarily under different umbrellas (Soul/R&B, Country/Western and also Metal being considered enough of its own thing to be separate from "Rock" in a general sense) should be excluded".
For my own money, I'm just trying to be cautious that the list of genres doesn't balloon out much more than it already has. From what I can tell it's likely that some of the battles we have remaining may need to be cancelled on account of being too niche/not engaging enough, plus it would just take too long to get through all of them. Let's say you added to that the entire scope of Soul, R&B, Funk and whatever else would be adjacent to those styles: Easily more than 10 extra battles to the roster, and at that rate we'll stil be here in a decade
If you ever got an "R&B Album Survivor" together though, then count me in (as long as you're the one running it ;) )

I can do that.I can think of six classic gems already from Otis Redding to Michael Jackson :D
I got my ten R&B/Soul if anyone is interested after the jazz fusion.
Meanwhile, here are my eliminated:
Weather Report- Heavy Weather
John McLaughlin- Devotion
Al Di Meola- Elegant Gypsy
Soft Machine- Third

Oh, right
I was actually thinking along the lines of a thread of its own that could cover the entire field of all things R&B and Soul, where you could have several battles (like in this thread) split into categories like Philly Soul, Chicago Soul, Southern soul, Funk, Motown Sound, Classic R&B, Contemporary R&B, Alt-R&B etc. etc.
Your idea works too though. If you could post your list of 10 albums I can add it to the "Future battles" roster :) Then we'll have it queued up immediately after the end of this current battle
Okay, this is my proposed list...
James Brown- Live at the Apollo
Otis Redding- Otis Blue
Aretha Franklin- Lady Soul
Isaac Hayes- Hot Buttered Soul
Curtis Mayfield- Curtis
Marvin Gaye- What's Going On
Stevie Wonder- Innervisions
Prince- 1999
Michael Jackson- Bad
Lauryn Hill- The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
I do like the idea of the sub-genres but then you fall into the trap of getting into too many genres to count. Still, we are missing some important artists such as Parliament/Funkadelic, the Temptations, The O'Jays, well, you get the idea.
Anyway, this is a preliminary list. If you think we can improve on it, let me know. :)
I was familiar with a few of these and listened to about half of the other half (no I'm not talking about the missus).
Here's my eliminated:
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
Al Di Meola - Elegant Gypsy
Larry Coryell - Spaces
John McLaughlin - Devotion
Return to Forever - Light as a Feather
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
Soft Machine - Third
Weather Report - Heavy Weather
Our time's up for this round and the result is a whopping five-way tie between Weather Report, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, Soft Machine and Mahavishnu Orchestra. As this is the first round, and there's no way to break the tie, they are all out!
Round 2
1. Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
2. Return to Forever - Light as a Feather
3. Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters
8. Frank Zappa - Hot Rats

That list certainly seems fine, although as far as MJ goes, maybe
Thriller is marginally preferable to
Bad? Not the biggest deal though, so I will leave it up to you and others' best judgement. I'll make sure to add the battle into the overview before long, at any rate
OK, since there's now less than 24 hours to the end of the round and only one person has voted so far, I'll extend the deadline a little bit to give some extra time. The new deadline for this round is June 7.
Hopefully I'll also have sorted out my own rankings by then as well. The massacre that was the first round at least eliminated a few I had yet to hear

Does anyone know if he's around to run the battle or not? I know that he's been having issues with his health lately, so if he's indisposed because of that, I don't mind running the R&b battle for now. The albums will remain same at any rate so feel free to start listening to prepare your rankings

James Brown - Live at the Apollo
Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul
I re-read the rules of this and realized I've been doing it wrong the whole time. I've been listing the two that I like the most out of the list not the ones that I want to vote out. Pretty much have been voting backwards anyways. I think I got it now.

Gonna wait a little longer to announce the next battle, but just an early heads up: I'm gonna take a few weeks off from running this thread once the next battle is posted; probably until early August at least. Therefore, the deadline for the first round of the next battle is going to be somewhat longer than usual.
So far,
Krautrock and
Prog Rock has been suggested by
@Mrs. Waffles for the next battle. I'd gladly go for either of those possibilities, but I'd like to check how many others are interested in those, or alternatively if you'd like to suggest something else, you can do that too.
Krautrock or Prog Rock are fine with me. No preference for one over the other.
I'd prefer the krautrock battle, I think it's a more diverse smattering of albums and I'd be very interested to see SCD's preferences.
Quote from: Mrs. Waffles on Jul 18, 2023, 05:10 AMI'd prefer the krautrock battle, I think it's a more diverse smattering of albums and I'd be very interested to see SCD's preferences.
Ah yes, that makes sense. Also, it might be good to put off the Prog rock battle until TH is back, since I'd bet he'd want to participate in that one.
Everybody fine with the current list for
Krautrock?

10. Harmonia - Musik Von Harmonia
It looks pretty fine to me at least. I'd question whether albums like
Autobahn and the Popol Vuh one should be considered krautrock, but I can see that it's at least adjacent but sort of tapping into that more electronic-oriented "Berlin school" sound or whatever. At any rate, I'm probably fine with not changing anything about the list if nobody else has any complaints

I think that's a good list, not one of the best Tangerine Dream albums but it's the closest to a more classic "krautrock" sound than Berlin School or pure ambient. Popol Vuh yeah that album is more new age/space music but I love it to bits and it adds some diversity, as does Autobahn. So I'm fine with that list.
It looks like there are no real complaints with regard to the next battle's list, so I'll just get us going for now

Announcement:
I've taken the liberty of deciding the order of all the remaining battles by using a random sequence generator to determine it, with some minor edits to ensure variety and avoid too many samey consecutive genre battles. First up in the order came the second of four Revival battles (one having already been completed over on MB).
I now welcome everyone to have a look at the Finished Battles (https://scd.community/index.php?topic=333.msg8204#msg8204) list on the first page and nominate non-first place albums for revival, preferably among those that placed second or third in their respective battles, but other options can also be discussed if there is a good argument for it.
edit: Forgot to mention it but any albums that were featured in the first Revival round (see under "Finished battles") can be disregarded, in case it wasn't clear. In other words, when an album is nominated for revival it has only that one chance to be "revived" and only the album that places first in the respective battles will get to move on, same as the regular genre battles. /edit
I will take suggestions until we've filled up the first revival list of 10 albums, but don't don't hesitate to suggest as many as you want; if we get to more than 10 I will just keep adding them to the subsequent revival round list, considering there's two more of those left after we've done the upcoming one.
Once we have a good list we'll get going with the battle, though I expect it might get to be at least a week from now until we've settled on those 10 albums.
I'll also soon be posting a tentative schedule for the most immediate upcoming battles including the next one, so that people can prepare their rankings in advance a little earlier than we've been able to do in the past, so look out for that.
Until then!
So we choose one album that placed second or third from each finished battle genre for consideration in a new battle in their respective genres?
Is that correct or am I misunderstanding this?
Prince - 1999
Ramones - Ramones
Built to Spill - Perfect From Now On
Idk how many suggestions per person but I decided to go with three and picked from generally the top 4 of the previous battles.
Quote from: Psy-Fi on Aug 26, 2023, 11:06 PMSo we choose one album that placed second or third from each finished battle genre for consideration in a new battle in their respective genres?
Is that correct or am I misunderstanding this?
Essentially, but you don't have to nominate something from every finished battle, just the ones you feel are deserving of an extra chance. The resulting list will thus contain albums representing a variety of genres, similar to the first Revival battle (where Devo ended up winning)
I'll nominate a few just to give a concrete example for everyone:
So, when looking through the overview of the battles we've done so far I'm seeing albums by
Neil Young,
Pixies and
Can placing in 2nd or 3rd that I feel might deserve another shot, so I will nominate those and start adding them in my preliminary list like so:
1. Neil Young - After the Gold Rush
2. Pixies - Doolittle
3. Can - Tago Mago
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
There are other albums I might like to nominate, like
Iggy Pop's
The Idiot, but that was already included in the first revival battle, and is therefore not eligible.
So basically everyone else can nominate as many as they feel like, and if we end up with more than 10 albums it's no problem because we'll just keep adding the albums into the subsequent revival rounds, keeping in mind that we should leave a few spots empty for albums from the genre lists we've yet to do.
Any other questions?

Great! I'll add those, although Ramones were already in Revival battle #1, so they aren't eligible sadly:
1. Neil Young - After the Gold Rush
2. Pixies - Doolittle
3. Can - Tago Mago
4. Prince - 1999
5. Built to Spill - Perfect From Now On
6.

8. Glenn Branca - The Ascension
7. Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime

1. Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!
I'll nominate three as well.
David Bowie - Low
Yes - Close to the Edge
The Cure - Disintegration
Assuming I'm reading the rules right, those are my picks.

Great, that fills up one list then and most of a second one :) I'm gonna suggest we end the nominations for now, just to make sure we have room enough in the last few revival round for albums from the 25 or so remaining genres in our line-up.
Below I've re-ordered the nominated albums a bit to avoid having albums from the same genre or artist crop up in the same battle. If everyone is satisfied with this sorting we can get the next battle going fairly soon, I think.
Revival Battle #21. Neil Young - After the Gold Rush
2. Pixies - Doolittle
3. Can - Tago Mago
4. Prince - 1999
5. David Bowie - Aladdin Sane

Here's a schedule I've made for the next upcoming battles, as determined by the randomly generated sequence. All dates are approximate, but I'm thinking we're going to be starting with the scheduled
revival round on Monday unless someone would like to amend the list in some way:

It's getting controversial now; every remaining album has received at least one vote this round, and the result is actually a four-way tie, meaning Pixies, Prince, Allman Brothers and Frank Zappa are all out at the same time!
Round 3

David Bowie - Aladdin Sane
Interest check:Who knows/think that they will be participating in the next upcoming battle in the schedule, namely
Crossover Thrash?
Crossover Thrash
1. Nuclear Assault - Game Over
2. D.R.I. - Crossover
3. Stormtroopers of Death - Speak English or Die
4. Cryptic Slaughter - Convicted
5. Suicidal Tendencies - Suicidal Tendencies
6. GWAR - Scumdogs of the Universe
7. M.O.D. - USA for MOD
8. Corrosion of Conformity - Animosity
9. Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare
10. Carnivore - Retaliation
If interest is too low we might want to postpone this one (or at worst cancel the battle outright), which means we would move on the first
Wild Card battle next instead. So just let me know if you are up for the one we have scheduled, and then I'll make the decision within the next few days
David Bowie
Also I have no idea about those bands and I would have to listen to them before the voting process starts to see which ones I prefer. Actually I vaguely know GWAR because of Beavis and Butthead but never listened to an album from them.
I've heard all of those except for M.O.D., Cryptic Slaughter and Carnivore, so I would be fine with doing it if others are interested.
The Cure - Disintegration
I've heard 4 out of the 10 albums in that Crossover Thrash list but it was a long time ago. I'll have to give all of them a listen if I participate in the battle.
David Bowie - Aladdin Sane
Noted on the crossover thrash battle. It might be a good idea then to postpone that one a bit to avoid any unnecessary delays in the schedule. If so, that means our next battle would be the first Wild Card round:
Wild Card Battle #1
1. Def Leppard - Pyromania
2. Whatever Brains - __LP
3. Radiohead - The Bends
4. WU LYF - Go Tell Fire to the Mountain
5. The Residents - Meet the Residents
6. Mission of Burma - Vs.
7. Kate Bush - The Dreaming
8. Flipper - Generic Flipper
9. Ween - The Mollusk
10. Helmet - Meantime
How do you feel about this?

Sounds like it would be interesting. I've heard all but two of those, though a few of them were quite a while ago. I do think I'd prefer that to the crossover battle for now.
Yes I'm all for that wildcard battle list.
I'm familiar with most of the albums in the Wild Card Battle, so there's only a couple I need to listen to before voting.
David Bowie is eliminated, leaving us with two final albums. Time to settle this

Is anyone actually planning to vote in this battle? I should maybe have asked before starting it, but I seem to remember there was at least some interest before we decided to do the previous Wild card battle first, just so that people could have some extra time to listen to these albums.
I guess I could put this one on hold for the time being and instead move on to our next sceduled battle, namely
Ska Punk:
Spoiler
1. Choking Victim - No Gods, No Managers
2. Bomb the Music Industry! - Album Minus Band
3. Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb
4. Catch 22 - Keasby Nights
5. Less Than Jake - Hello Rockview
6. The Flatliners - Destroy to Create
7. Operation Ivy - Energy
8. Suicide Machines - Destruction by Definition
9. Sublime - Robbin' the Hood
10. Rancid - Life Won't Wait
How would that be?
I honestly just haven't had the time to listen to the albums I haven't heard.
I think we got more engagement with the ones where it was a bunch of classic albums from several different genres, I feel like people are less likely to be particular crossover thrash enthusiasts.
I personally like the multi-genre ones the best as well, if the more niche genres aren't getting engagement maybe another wild card kind of battle could be on the table? Just a suggestion.
yeah I'm not familiar with these Trash albums but I will listen to a good chunk of them tomorrow and then vote. idk if I'm going to be the only one voting.
I can try. I've been in and out of bed for chest pain all day so if I feel better tomorrow I can listen to the four I'm unfamiliar with.
I didn't realize that the next battle was on. Haven't checked the thread for several days. I'm only familiar with 4 of the albums in the list, and it's been a long time since I listened to those 4.
Noted on all counts. I'm gonna extend the deadline a bit then to allow for some time to catch up on listening.
New deadline: Oct. 20th
In the meantime I'll try to think of some way to deal with the upcoming genre battles that also may be more niche/obscure.
Yeah thanks for the extension, I've been a bit busy with rl and it seems others have too. The extension is perfect. I'm going to que up a few of the albums and listen to them at the gym and in the car.
I think with genre battles that are more niche/obscure , just give us a little longer deadlines so those that are interested have time to actually listen to the albums that we are picking.
When it comes to some of the other genres majority of the times we know the albums because we've listened to them in the past. If it's more obscure stuff give the ones that want a chance to actually hear the albums for the first time by stretching out the voting periods a little longer.
Okay, finally finished listening to these.

The only reference on Spotify to "M.O.D. - USA for MOD" was this : https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0aq8NL6u2M5B2ep6pbJaJs as no album came up with that name. I thought they usually covered everything out there, so I'll have a search for it elsewhere.

Nuclear Assault - Game Over
I've been thinking of a possible solution to avoid starting genre battles with little to no community interest, so here's what I've come up with:
Instead of progressing through all of the scheduled genres in order, I'm instead going to put the next three scheduled genres to a vote between each new battle and the most popular one will be up next. I think this works a little better than selecting the genre options at random because we're still basing it off the schedule, which ensures that there is always some overlap there between each time we vote on it. If then after multiple votes containing the same genre battle, that genre never gets picked, it may be moved into the "Canceled battles (https://scd.community/index.php?topic=333.msg8205#msg8205)" section to make room for other genres, although it may be still be revived at the participants' request.
If this sounds okay to you, here's our choices for what battle to do next once Crossover Thrash is concluded:

All of those votes are duly noted. I'll announce the genre we'll be continuing with along with the winner of this genre battle tomorrow. Until then!
The battle has ended and the self-titled album from

And now for our next genre, which will indeed be
Synthpunk! The list is mostly the same as the version that was posted earlier, although I discovered that the release by The Normal was in fact a single and not an album, so I propose we instead replace it with the album
Knife Play by Xiu Xiu. That way we have some representation of music from our own century as well. ;) If everyone is alright with this, we'll begin again shortly.

See you soon at the beginning of our next battle
In going over the albums for the next battle I had a few small conundrums I'd like to bring up: First of all I'm wondering if it would be better to put in the Jam album
Setting Sons in place of
Sound Affects. Does anybody have a preference between the two?
Secondly, I have not seen the NZ band The La De Da's described as a Mod band anywhere that I've found, which leads me to question if their album is appropriate for this list. If somebody would like to suggest a replacement, now's your chance. Either way I'm hoping to get us going as early as I can tomorrow, just wanted to hear some other opinions regarding the aforementioned things. The list of albums is below for your reference.
Current Mod list
1. The Who - The Who Sell Out
2. The Kinks - Face to Face
3. The Jam - Sound Affects
4. The Creation - We Are Paintermen
5. Small Faces - Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake
6. The La De Da's - La De Da's
7. The Times - Pop Goes Art!
8. The Easybeats - Vigil
9. The Action - Rolled Gold
10. The Boys - To Hell With The Boys
Since nobody had a response I decided to just cut through and make the call on everyone's behalf. I left in Sound Affects but swapped out The La De Da's for the album A Taste of Pink! by The Prisoners. So without further ado let's get this party started once more!

Once our current battle is over I'm planning on putting this thread on hiatus during Christmas, so we'll probably be starting whichever genre we end up right after New Year's. In other words, no rush in deciding the outcome right away, but I figured it was best to put it to a vote now so I don't have to update the thread during Christmas.
Proto Punk or Prog is cool with me. Lots of tough choices on both lists, though, so I'll be doing a lot of coin tossing.
I feel like we did a variation of Punk kind of recently so I'm going with Prog.
We can do Proto Punk after Prog.
The Jam
I vote prog, because I'm already intimately familiar with all of those albums so I feel less out of my element.
We have eliminated The Jam, bringing us to our final round!
Final Round

That's all for now, so merry Christmas to you all until we next reconvene! :)

That one was in the Symphonic Prog battle, so no, sadly. Feel free to suggest any other GG album though, and which album in the list you think should be swapped out for it.
I'd say Power and the Glory is closest to the others stylistically as classic prog and it's iconic even though it's not my favorite non-Octopus album.

We could certainly make that happen but what album should we chuck out to make room for it? At a glance it looks like ELP or Kansas might be the most dispensable, but I would like to hear y'alls opinion as well before I make the call and settle it.

I've also not gotten around to finding the next three genres for us to vote on, but I figure I might as well leave it up to the rest of you for once, so just have a look at the list of remaining battles on the first page and see what you might like to do next. I'm open to all suggestions. See you soon!
What do you guys think of either Canterbury Scene or Industrial Rock?
Canterbury Scene would be new for me and I would have to listen to all of the albums but it would be interesting.
I'm familiar with enough of the following choices, that I won't need to do much in the way of extra listening...
Blues
Hardcore Punk
Pop Punk
80's Arena Rock
Post Punk
Industrial
Rock Opera
Soft Rock
Space Rock
Arena-Oriented Rock
Everything else on the list will require more listening time on my part.
After browsing the list, the one that immediately jumps out at me is industrial rock, so if that's DJ's pick, I'll vote for it as well. I'd be fine to do post hardcore, stoner rock, space rock or melodic hardcore as well.
I hear you on
Industrial Rock, so I think I'll make an adjustment to my tentative schedule and continue with this as our next battle.
Here is the list in its current form, are there any changes any of you would like to make before we get going?:
Industrial Rock
1. Grotus - Slow Motion Apocalypse
2. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
3. Skinny Puppy - Too Dark Park
4. Ministry - Land of Rape and Honey
5. Cabaret Voltaire - Red Mecca
6. Chrome - Red Exposure
7. Cop Shoot Cop - Ask Questions Later
8. Einstürzende Neubauten - 1/2 Mensch
9. Foetus - Hole
10. Killing Joke - Pandemonium
Since Dj mentioned the
Canterbury Scene list I would also like to take the opportunity to schedule that immediately after the Industrial battle, which should provide a nice contrast to our recently explored genres. That way, even if some of us have a lot of listening to do in preparation for the CS battle, we'll have extra time to listen while Industrial is still ongoing :)
Nobody seems to have an issue with the list, so I'll get us going for now.

One more thing I wanted to bring up: I was supposed to take suggestions for albums to nominate for further Wild Card lists, given that 3 out of the 4 lists have yet to be filled out with albums, but I never got around to it, before now that is. So if you would like to
nominate any albums that are not found on any other lists, past, present or future, please feel free to do so. You can nominate multiple albums but try to keep it to a maximum of
3 for now. We're still trying to limit ourselves to the "rock" umbrella generally speaking, but if something you want to nominate is at least adjacent to that, we can probably bend the rules a little bit.
Here is the next Wild Card list with the albums that have been nominated thus far:
Wild Card #2 (incomplete)
1. The Beatles - Revolver
2. George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
3. The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
4. The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge
5. David Bowie - Station to Station
6. Rush - Moving Pictures
7. -
8. -
9. -
10. -
Albums number 1-3 are ones that I discussed adding with rubber soul on MB way back when. 4 and 5 are my own nominees, whereas number 6, as you might have glimpsed from page 1, is actually featured on one of the future lists, bringing me to my next suggestion:
In an effort to try and reduce the sheer volume of albums we have yet to get to I'm suggesting we merge two of the lists, namely "80's Arena Rock" and "Arena-Oriented Rock". Seeing as there's so much overlap, even down to many of the literal same bands being featured, it just makes it seem redundant to keep both* which is why I have taken the liberty of pruning it down to a single list like so:
Spoiler
QuoteAOR
1. Def Leppard - Hysteria
2. Journey - Escape
3. Toto - Toto IV
4. Styx - The Grand Illusion
5. Billy Squier - Don't Say No
6. Foreigner - 4
7. Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet
8. REO Speedwagon - Hi Infidelity
9. Whitesnake - Whitesnake
10. Survivor - Vital Signs
The only downside I can see here is that Rush's
Moving Pictures (from the 80's Arena Rock list) is no AOR album by any stretch of the imagination, and so it won't fit in with these other albums, which is why I have instead opted to move it to the next Wild Card list. Anyways, it's just a suggestion, so let me know what you think, and then I'll make it official if none of you have a problem with this change to the roster. The invitation to nominate albums for Wild Card spots stands in any event.
That is all for now! :)
*edit: To make matters worse there is even a "70's Arena Rock" list among the finished battle, so case in point I guess

Quote from: DJChameleon on Apr 09, 2024, 01:18 PMCan we add Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode to the WildCard list. I don't know if that album has been in any other lists to date. You'd have to let me know GD.
Well, I see that
Violator was already featured on the New Wave list, whereas
Music for the Masses has not been featured on any list so it is quite eligible :) Will add.
This is the current list for the next Wild Card round then:

And if you want to nominate some more albums (since we've yet to fill up the list) the page search function is your friend. Just go to the first page of this thread, click to show all the text hidden by spoiler tags, and then search for whatever album you'd want to nominate. :) This advice goes out to everyone participating btw

Hardcore Punk will be our next battle! Editing the OP to reflect that. As always you can have a look at the list and see if you think there's any changes we should make before we commence:

Also, the merging of the "80's Arena Rock" and "Arena-Oriented Rock" lists into AOR has now been made official, but the original lists can be found under "Canceled battles" on the first page for reference.
Since nobody has voted yet I'm extending the deadline by another 5 days. New deadline: April 25.
I have not really had much time to get ahead with listening but I'll try to finish up the list if not by the end of this round, then at least in a round or two.
Cro-Mags - The Age of Quarrel
Ceremony - Rohnert Park
Charged GBH - City Baby Attacked by Rats
The Exploited - Troops of Tomorrow
Only one person has voted, but I figure we might as well move on to the second round for now. That means it's a 4-way tie, so all of the ones Psy-fi voted for are out.

My vote is for either Indie Folk or Deathrock since we just did a punk battle.
Leaning slightly more to Indie Folk.
I'm gonna step outside my comfort zone for a change and second indie folk.
Noted. I was initially interested in Folk Punk, but for the sake of variety I will back
Indie Folk as well and make it official we're doing that one next. Before we get going, is there anyone who has any issue with the selection of albums in the list?:
