Quote from: Dirty on Jul 24, 2023, 06:58 AMThanks for rubbing it in! I've never seen Wonder Years or Alkaline Trio. They're pretty much the only bands I'd die to see but haven't. No Closer To Heaven is probably my favorite album ever.

Your music taste rules and I'm guessing we're roughly the same age. I have major nostalgia for The Used in particular. Them, TBS and Brand New were my must-listens in high school. I was into all those bands you listed at varying degrees. I always weirdly resented how MCR was the face of that style of music around that time tho so I've always kinda sipped the Haterade on them.

I did a little art project in my man cave last year that was a really fun experience. You may recognize most of these albums in the frames

That's so cool! I'm 34, and I'm also a big fan of Finch and TBS. The Wonder Years show was so incredible, my throat was absolutely shredded by the end of the night from singing along. I think they're doing some kind of 10th anniversary tour for The Greatest Generation soon, so that might be a good opportunity to see them.

And thank you for the compliment on my taste, yours is dope too! I don't generally bring up my emo kid past much on here, I guess I still have a bit of ingrained caution from the old days lurking on MB and seeing anyone who posted about liking 2000s mall emo getting roasted alive, haha. But yeah, my 2003-2008 or so was defined in large part by that scene, and it wasn't really until I discovered prog rock in 2006 and MB in late 2007 that I started branching out musically.

Still have a lot of love for those bands and styles though, and it's so great to have a fellow appreciator of them on here!

"stressed" is just "desserts" spelled backwards

I love Finch! I saw them twice in the last few years in Pittsburgh and it was the tw worst crowds I've literally ever been a part of. Not a single person knew any of their songs and the lead singer actually started heckling the crowd. It was bizarre and I felt bad for them cause they sounded amazing and brought energy.

That Wonder Years show sounds amazing. I did see they're touring but doubt I'll get to go! I moved to the middle of nowhere and have a daughter now so going to shows has been shoved to the back burner for a few years but I'm hoping to change that! I'm also 34 and kinda skipped a generation of emo-ish music and now I'm kinda back with bands like Spanish Love Songs, Heart Attack Man, Niiice, Arms Length, Etc.

They won't be as nostalgic for you but there's a band named Spraynard I'm a big fan of from like a decade ago that would be worth checking out I think!

Glad someone with similar tastes is around here

I have similar tastes. I just don't talk about them much and because I listen to so much and different genres I'm always skipping around. I haven't gone back to listening to emo/post hardcore in awhile but I feel like I'm going to end up getting back into listening to symphonic metal that I listened to in college.

Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, MCR, Saosin and a few others that you mentioned in the other post were getting regular plays from me back then.

I was this cool the whole time.

Welcome to @Seven 🙂 did you come over from Musicbanter?

Happiness is a warm manatee

Hello everyone, I'm glad to be here around people that like to talk about music and other stuff.

I discovered this forum over from Music Banter, yes.

I'm 27 and I live in Brazil. I really love rock music and bands like The Beatles, Nirvana, Melvins, Alice In Chains, Oasis, The Clash, even The Misfits etc.

I wanna record a single until December, just need to find the right people. I like to create my own music.

I'm on Discord almost every day, so if you ever want to share something or sending a DM here, feel free to do it.

I'm going to start a course in the next month, I'm excited. It involves music.

That's it.

If you need anyone to do some mixing or mastering, I'd be happy to take a look at it 🙂

Glad to have you on board!

Welcome. How did you find the forum?

Only God knows.

A warm welcome to flytrap and Seven! I hope you both find something of interest here on SCD.
@Seven : if you like anything about traditional Brazilian music, you are welcome to share it in this thread:-

And a cautious welcome to Dirty! I think it's to your credit that you came here under your original name and mentioned that you were banned from MB. In your circumstances, I think I would've started over with a new user-name, like "Clean" so that no-one would guess who I was.

What you desire is of lesser value than what you have found.

How did you like age of pleasure? I wish I could see her when she goes on tour.

I was this cool the whole time.

Welcome to @RebelYeller ! If I'm correct in my assumption, I can also thank you for setting the story straight on MB about a certain someone..

Very happy you're here and hope you find something you like 🙂

I enjoyed it. It's definitely an album that should be listened to straight-through as a whole piece (which is not super hard considering the running time lol). Wasn't obsessed with all the songs individually, but I did really enjoy "only have eyes for 2" and "a dry red". How about you?
