Yes, if I were a record producer, I'd be releasing a series of those cheap and cheesy compilation albums, K-Tel style, linked by a theme. One album would definitely be "Songs About Bits Of Clothing".
Here are a couple of essential tracks:-
What songs would you put on an album about clothes?
lots of hat songs for some reason
Spoiler
Thanks, Marie; that's quite a collection of hats! You didn't include
Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, but as that's an instrumental, perhaps it doesn't count.
Good call on the Beefheart song which hadn't occurred to me. :thumb:
Boots are another piece of clothing which get some attention: plenty of people have recorded
Thirsty Boots, but this is the guy who wrote it:
This was a huge hit many years ago:
Are you ready, boots? Start walkin!...while Lou Reed takes a darker look at the eroticism of boots:-
Apparently this song was popular in the UK in 70s, but the first time I heard it was on a shuttle bus in Germany two years ago. It instantly became one of my go-to happy songs.
^ Yep, it's got that irresistible, catchy hook, hasn't it ? Everyone knew the song in the UK because it was used in a tv advert for jeans: one of the few ads that I was positively happy to see come on between progs.
Another great song about pants:
^ Thanks for the two songs celebrating Nike sneakers, jj and Lexi !
Here are two songs that were well-known decades ago:-
^ That L Cohen song is just too slow and long-drawn-out for me, so here's a livelier, more recent song to finish off with:-
Did somebody say "sneakers?"...
Tommy Tucker - Hi-Heel Sneakers
I don't think I ever saw this vid. Just heard it on radio for years and years.
Prince & The Revolution - Raspberry Beret
I used to use this song as a pick up line.
"Any more room for me in those jeans?"
Joe Bennett and the Sparkletones - Black Slacks

^ total, genuine laugh-out-loud type LOL. Sounds like you were a real smooth operator, DJ !
In terms of music, two of my favourites so far are Janszoon's wonderful discovery from who-knows-where:
Manassa With The Tight Foot Pants, and Psy-Fi's
High-Heel SneakersEDIT: Just remembered this song:-
I wonder if you were using lines from this song too, in your young stallion days, DJ ;)
The late, great, Jeff Beck covering a tune by the late, great, Charles Mingus...
Jeff Beck - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat

That song was huge in the 90s when I was a little kid. Though unfortunately these days it seems Right Said Fred are more like Far Right Said Fred. :o

Dorothy Dandridge & Paul White - A Zoot Suit (with a A Reet Pleat)
^ That's a great clip, Psy-Fi :thumb:
It must be the most on-topic song so far, with all those tailoring/dressmaking details, and I love how we get to see the clothes they are singing about.

Here's a song that I'm spoilering because it's so cringey on top of cringey:-

I was too young when that came out and was more focused on catching the next episode of DragonBall Z but if I was in college when it came out. I might have used it. Or tweak it a bit to fit my style.
