Debt Ceiling latest: in case anyone finds the current negotiations confusing, here's the latest development:

The Republicans took the American economy hostage, and although Biden refuses to negotiate with hostage-takers, he has reached a compromise with K McCarthy which is a triumph/capitulation that is a win/resounding defeat for Dems and Republicans alike. Biden is a weak coward who has masterfully manipulated McCathy into watering down his demands so much that K McC imagines he has "won" something of no consequence. It is either a consession which will be fudged away later on in the Biden admin or a dangerous precedent for the next set of debt ceiling negotiations. That's why the extreme wings of each party are outraged, not at each other, but by their own leaders, who have been outwitted/backmailed by their cunning/unprincipled opponents.

So that's all clear really.
One thing I'd like to see in all the media coverage on this drama is a few more hard-fact historical comparisons, i.e. more graphs like:-

The bolded is very much true especially of Cubans in Florida. They come to the country and then it's like they shut the door behind them and all of a sudden hate illegals. I'm like sir you just came over not too long ago and you want to turn your back on your own people? what!?


After awhile I was so over the Debt Ceiling talk. They do this every time lately, they drum up suspense and wait til the last minute and of course they will work out something because they can't shut down the government. It's just to get the average person/voter on pins and needles. It's a bunch of political posturing so that voters remembered who held up the process of coming to an agreement and when it's time to vote they vote against the person that held up the process and get them out of office.
