Steve Tsang, director of London's Soas China Institute, says though the Brics members do not have much in common on the surface, President Xi was trying to show his fellow bloc members that they all want a similar future: none of them want to live in a Western-dominated world.
"What the Chinese are offering is an alternative world order for which autocrats can feel safe and secure in their own countries," says Prof Tsang.
"They can find an alternative direction of development without having to accept the conditionalities imposed by the democratic Americans and European powers."

It would be quite fun to learn to be honest, if I wasn't already trying to learn a language I'd maybe give it a go as well.
You should travel to China if you can! I have been (a very long time ago) and it was one of the best holidays I've been on.

Learned a fuck ton of Chinese history and about their elite politics;
The professor teaching this course predicted the future that in 2022 Xi Jinping would stay in power and boot out term limits;
Which is wild because their congress has term limits and can't be elected after age 57;
Why can't America take note on term limits?
Most of this course on YouTube was information overload, so it's hard to not learn a little something;
The plan is to just start completely over and go through the lectures all over again and try to plant the information deeper into my brain;

I think most voters would prefer term limits for Congress and the Senate. I also think there's just too much money & opportunities for corruption in it for the majority of those in Congress or the Senate to ever go along with it, though.

I noticed it. Sometimes I will play along and continue the conversation but other times I can't be bothered. They always end up wanting to know where you live and your occupation.
Now that I think about it. It could be creditors trying to get information. They notice people don't answer the constant debt collection phone calls so now they text you pretending to be someone that texted the wrong person. Maybe to also find out if the number is active.

I never experienced that. I dont answer the phone or get many texts
I don't know if I would feel safe using a US passport to enter any city in China but good luck to you.
I do want to visit Singapore though, which is south of China on its own island.
I have a friend that I can travel with that is fluent in Mandarin. She lived in China for a couple of years.
