New album sounds OK so far.
What are my fellow forumistas saying?
I like it so far. Only first playthrough. Gonna run it back more over the weekend.
Gonna probably listen tonight. I find it interesting how little promotion there seemed to be for this album compared to a usual rollout. Which I like tbh, the constant media circus around her the past year or so has been really exhausting.

She announced it at the Grammys that was enough promo for the Swifties to remember.
I've never listened to Taylor Swift, but maybe I too have a Swiftie buried deep inside of me. I might just give it a spin.

Yeah, a Swifty tipped me off to expect its release yesterday: she'd been counting down the days!
So when Youtube offered me this, I gave it a listen:-

Nice video with the wipe-on tattoos, some interesting lyrics (which TS is good at). This time there's something about Febuary Mondays, but overall, too lush, too romantic for me - and too much like so many other TS songs. By halfway through I'd had enough of its predictable, smoothly produced sound.
P.S: Should we praise TS for using the word "fortnight" ? I don't think Americans are very familiar with that word, or am I wrong ?
Fortnight is a popular game so the word gets said often but she decided to spell it the correct way. No praise for this one.
In typical Taylor fashion she decides to write about an ex relationship but she also referenced her new relationship in one of the songs. She also comments on how much of a bully Kim K was to her which is funny because she sicked her rabid fan base on Kim.
I listen to the first two tracks of the new album and they were as forgettable as everything else I've heard by her.
I've heard the first disc and it feels like a worse retread of her last album. I don't know what happened that it feels like she just can't make songs with any energy or pep anymore. Yeah a lot of her best songs are slower but she had the uptempo bangers too.
Sounds alright to me.

It is alright, don't get me wrong. And I'm sure some of the songs will grow on me; that's exactly what happened with the last album. But as of right now I'm not ready to call it anything more than just alright.

The title of the album is tortured poets department and you are expecting uptempo bangers? 😆
I've never listened to Taylor Swift beyond what I hear in grocery stores (which isn't bad, but not exactly compelling). I just hope she's around for the Chiefs three-peat Super Bowl next year. 8)

Not really expecting them, just lamenting a bit. I honestly didn't have any particular expectations in mind based on that title.
And
@SGR I gotchu fam. I'll post some recs for TS deep cuts when I get home from dinner.
My Swiftie friend is happy with the album: "It's different because she now has the voice of a mature woman".
And so I watch as you walk
Into some bar called The Black Dog
And pierce new holes in my heart
Here's the Black Dog pub that TS apparently used to go to:-

It's in Vauxhall, which is a London district that has a few affluent streets, but its most distinctive feature are the huge roads and heavy traffic of everyone heading the extra two miles to get to the proper city centre.

I love the fact that, even if I saw this picture entirely free of context, I would know what country it was taken in.
England  France
hanging bunches of flowers in public spaces (altough in france it's usually on lanterns instead of pubs). They should start doing that in Holland too, it's lovely

I'm honestly surprised that Holland doesn't do it.
