Title: AI generated art
Post by: Guybrush on Jan 09, 2023, 03:32 PM
Hi there,

As I've been writing, I've been wondering if AI art should be considered art. But I guess I am an artist when I am making the prompt and the AI is my brush. It's just an extremely good brush that does all the heavy lifting. Perhaps it's a working perspective for now.

So have you generated any interesting AI art pieces of late? How do you feel about it?

DALL-E (https://labs.openai.com/) has made my current blue parrot avatar. Here are some other favorite results from prompts I've made:

No.
How do you feel about it?
It is ok, but it is not for me.
My art is different and I love what I do  :)

Somewhat interesting to see what comes out of it but I tend to quickly lose interest when making them.

whatever medium is used the art still has to stand above the competition

if AI starts making superior art unprompted then the original programmers are the artists unless the AI is sentient- in that case they will have to be respected as artists of their own right
